Social media recap for week ending April 25, 2025

Bluesky

Watching "It's The Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown" and, as I have done every time since I was like 14, envying Woodstock's birdhouse bachelor pad.

When Cardinal Bergoglio became Pope, he declined most of the Papacy's familiar luxurious trappings. Francis chose humility. He's left an itchy situation for the next Pope. How can he ask for the suite in the Papal palace, the deluxe limo, the kingly vestments, without looking like a complete jerk?

Doing some work at a library, alongside others. I am wondering why some people type with a level of force that's twice what would necessary if their keyboard were glued to the underside of the table.

[Donning judicial wig] If your news site cribs a story from elsewhere, your "(Via OtherTechSite)" link MUST take your reader to the original story on that other site. If it links to a collection of articles on your own site tagged with "OtherTechSite," you are being Complete Jerks. [Gavel sound]

Tim Cook honors Pope Francis on Twitter/X. No comment as yet on how much he intends to donate to new pope's inauguration.

One of the unexpected treats of a GoComics or Comics Kingdom subscription: archives of strips that have been running for decades. You discover that a strip was WONDERFUL before it got passed down to a series of disengaged hired hands, or before the creator crawled up his own butt and stayed there.

Dealing with a pleasant dilemma at my library's book sale: do I finally replace my long-lost copy of this classic stunner of a graphic novel? Or do I leave it, so it can delight a new, young reader? (The latter comes with the risk that it'll be bought by a g-d book scanner, who couldn't care less)

(I bought it. If I don't keep it for myself, I can make sure it's given to someone who'll read and enjoy it: either give it away personally, or put it in a Little Free Library...after writing "LIBRARY BOOK SALE" on the cover somewhere. It wards off ebayers like a cross to a vampire.)
