@Joe – I’ll have a long list of answers shortly. But my quick response to your comments: (1) I consider a camera to be a nice bonus but by no means a necessity…I rarely do video conferencing and I won’t be taking photos with this thing; (2) given the nature of the device and how I’d use it — not as a replacement for a desktop or a notebook, but as an ultramobile — I can’t think of many accessories I’d want that aren’t available…IE, I sure don’t want or need to plug in an external hard drive; the App Store is huge and filled with quality third-party software. If you don’t like the App Store then you must _hate_ the Android Marketplace and every other store for mobile apps.

(Bottom line is that “open software from any source you want” is a great principle but how much are you willing to sacrifice for an abstract principle? I’m buying this to get **** done, not make a statemen.)

@Tim — Comics are going to look fantastic on the iPad. I just hope that app makers are smart enough to stick with a simple “HERE IS A PAGE” method of display and don’t fall for that silly “We can ENHANCE the comic page with ANIMATION and TRANSITIONS and EFFECTS!” malarkey. It takes a dynamic and exciting page of art and makes it look like cheap, tacky junk.

@Mindo — It’s antialiased, yes, but not nearly as well. I do think that on balance the text on the iPad is just as good as what you’d see on the Kindle, despite the lower DPI.
